Canvas Course Cartridge Installation Guide

When you adopt our course cartridge, you will be given a download link, a consumer key, and a shared secret. Your consumer key and shared secret for as long as you are with us.

Load cartridge into your course

1. Go to your Canvas course
2. Click on Settings
3. Click on “Import Course Content” to the right
4. In the Import Content screen, select “Canvas Course Export Package” option under Content Type
5. Click on Choose File, and then select the course to upload
6. Under Content, select “All Content“
7. Click Import

Set up LTI Settings

1. Click on Settings
2. Click on the Apps tab
3. Click on View App Configurations
4. If an entry called CourseOrbit exists
   
   1. Consumer Key: <provided by Course Orbit>
   2. Shared Secret: <provided by Course Orbit>
5. If the entry called CourseOrbit does not exist, Click on the +App button
   
   1. Configuration type: By URL
   2. Name: CourseOrbit
   3. Consumer Key: <provided by Course Orbit>
   4. Shared Secret: <provided by Course Orbit>
   5. Config URL: https://courseorbit.com/lticonfig/courseorbit.xml

Test your course

1. Click on Modules
2. Locate an LTI link. These usually start with “Lecture:…“

If everything goes smoothly, your lecture links should work. If there’s an error message, please submit a ticket with a screenshot, and we will able to assist you. Access code check will be activated the first time a student clicks on a lecture link.
